❓ FAQ

It is the wrench for the fuel filter housing on the Ram 1500 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel (2014-2019). Four tabs engage the lugs on the housing and the body takes a 3/8 inch square or 7/8 inch hex drive.

The Ram 1500 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel from 2014 to 2019, as listed on this page. It is a housing tool, not a filter, so the fitment refers to the housing on that engine.

A tool. 61150 is the wrench that opens the fuel filter housing; the filter element that goes inside is 68235275AA and is not included.

The anodising protects the cast aluminium from corrosion where the tool is used and stored under the truck, and the red makes it easy to find in a toolbox.

Yes. Because it takes a 3/8 inch square drive it works with a torque wrench, so the housing can go back to the figure in the manual instead of being guessed by hand.

Description

Product Overview

The 61150 is the wrench for the fuel filter housing on the Ram 1500 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel built from 2014 to 2019. The housing on this engine is a screw-in body with four lugs on the outside and no hex of its own, so a normal socket has nothing to grip. This tool is shaped to those four lugs: it drops on, the lugs take the load, and the housing turns.

The body takes a 3/8 inch square drive, which means an ordinary ratchet or torque wrench does the turning, and there is a 7/8 inch hex on it as well for a ring spanner or a second socket. That matters at the end of the job: the housing has to go back to a set torque, and you cannot judge that with a strap wrench or a pair of water pump pliers.

It is cast aluminium, anodised red. The anodising is there for a reason beyond looks — the housing sits under the truck where road salt and water collect, and a bare aluminium tool in that position corrodes and welds itself to the lugs. The red also makes it easy to find in a toolbox that already holds a dozen grey sockets. It replaces 61150 and fits the 2014-2019 Ram 1500 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel listed on this page.

Key Features

Four tabs, matched to the housing — the tool engages the lugs on the outside of the fuel filter housing instead of relying on a hex that is not there.
3/8 inch square drive — works with a standard ratchet, extension or torque wrench, so the housing can be tightened to spec rather than by feel.
7/8 inch hex — a second way to drive it, for a ring spanner or where a ratchet will not fit.
Cast aluminium body — stiff enough that the tabs do not spread under load, which is what rounds the lugs off on plastic-bodied tools.
Anodised red finish — protects the tool from rust where it is stored and used, and makes it easy to spot in a toolbox.
Low profile — sits close to the housing, which is what you need in the space above the filter on this chassis.
Removes and installs — the same tool takes the housing off and puts it back, so there is no second purchase for refitting.
Replaces 61150 — the factory number for this wrench on the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
Correct for the 3.0 EcoDiesel — the 2014-2019 Ram 1500 application listed here, not the petrol engines.
Service tool, not a wear part — bought once and used at every fuel filter change.
Batch inspected — tab spacing and drive fit are checked per batch before packing.
90-day warranty — covered against manufacturing defects for 90 days from delivery.

Cross-Reference

This wrench replaces 61150, and 61150 is the number the housing tool is sold under for the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel — there is no second factory number to cross to, which is why the number on the tool is the number to search for.

Do not confuse it with the filter. 68235275AA is the fuel filter element that goes inside this housing, and 61150 is only the tool that opens it; a listing that shows both numbers is usually a kit, not this wrench on its own.

Application

Use it on the 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel in the Ram 1500 from 2014 to 2019. Seat the four tabs squarely on the lugs before you load the ratchet — if the tool is cocked, the tabs ride up and chew the lugs, and a chewed housing is a much more expensive problem than a filter change.

Turning the housing off is the easy half. Going back on, start it by hand until the thread is fully engaged, then finish with the ratchet to the torque in the manual; the housing is a sealing part and over-torque distorts the seat, which shows up later as a leak or as air drawn into the fuel system.

Wipe the tool and the lugs clean before storage, and keep the anodising intact — a chipped edge on a tab is the start of a tool that slips. The wrench is covered for 90 days against manufacturing defects.
