Yes. It fits the 2017-2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD with the 6.6L Duramax L5P turbo diesel V8, and it also fits the 2019-2025 Chevrolet Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD medium-duty chassis cab with the 6.6L V8. It does not fit the 2020-and-later 2500HD and 3500HD, which use a different air box and element.

The GM service schedule calls for the engine air filter at 45,000 miles (72,000 km) or 4 years. Check it at every oil change and replace it earlier when the truck works hard: on dusty, gravel or construction-site duty, and on trucks that tow or idle a lot, many owners replace the element around every 12,000 miles.

Both are ACDelco numbers for the same 2017-2019 L5P air box. A3257C is the later number and A3231C the earlier one, and both cross to GM 84262965. This filter replaces either number, so matching whichever is printed on the old element is enough.

No. This is a dry two-stage panel filter, with a foam pre-filter layer over pleated paper media. It is not oiled and it is not cleaned and re-oiled — it is replaced. The K&N 33-5065 cross-reference only means that both filters drop into the same factory air box for the 2017-2019 L5P.

Open the air box, release the lid clips, lift out the old element and drop the new one in so it seats flat on the housing seal, then refit the lid. No special tools are needed and the job normally takes 5-10 minutes. Do not leave the air box open with the engine running.
