❓ FAQ
One upper fuel bowl filter, one lower lift pump filter and two O-rings. The 6.4L uses both filters, one in the fuel bowl on top of the engine and one in the Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module on the frame rail, so the kit supplies the pair rather than a single element.
The 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke V8 in the F-250 to F-550 Super Duty. It does not fit the earlier 6.0L engine, which uses the FD4616 filters and a different housing.
Every 15,000 miles in normal service and every 10,000 miles in severe service. Drain the water from the frame-rail module at each oil change as well, because the lower filter is also the water separator and a full sump lets water reach the injectors.
The lower filter sits in the Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module on the driver-side frame rail, which also contains the water separator and a 6 mm Allen drain plug. The upper filter is on top of the engine, just to the right of the oil filter.
Yes, they are serviced as a pair. Changing only the upper filter leaves the lower one loaded with the water and debris it has already collected, and the reverse is the same. Every batch is checked for pleat count, seal fit and flow, and the kit carries a 90-day warranty against manufacturing defects.

Description
Product Overview
The FD4617 kit covers both fuel filters on the 2008-2010 Ford 6.4L Powerstroke V8 in one service: the upper fuel bowl filter that sits on top of the engine, and the lower lift pump filter inside the Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module on the driver-side frame rail. The two are replaced together because they are serviced together — the lower unit is the water separator, and the upper one is the final guard before the injectors.
The same filters fit the F-250 to F-550 Super Duty from 2008 to 2010. Two O-rings are in the box and the media separates 98% of free water. On the HEUI injection system this engine runs, water and fine debris reach the injector tips directly, so both filters are a maintenance item rather than a repair.
