❓ FAQ
Every 100 operating hours or once per season, whichever comes first. Replace immediately if water appears in the bowl, or if you notice rough idle, hesitation at high RPM or a drop in performance.
It fits any outboard using a standard 1/4 NPT (ZG1/4-19) spin-on filter head, including Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda outboards. Check the thread on your existing filter head before ordering.
It means the filter media captures 98% of water and particulate contaminants down to 10 microns. That is finer than 30 micron, so it suits fuel-injected outboards that are sensitive to fine debris and water.
Close the fuel valve and clean the head. Lubricate the new gasket with clean fuel, then spin the element on by hand until the gasket contacts the head and tighten a further 3/4 turn. Do not use a wrench, and check for leaks before starting.
Yes. The media is compatible with ethanol-blended fuel. Ethanol absorbs water faster, so drain the collection bowl more often and shorten the replacement interval when running E10.
Description
10-micron spin-on protection for marine outboards
The R12T is a 10-micron spin-on fuel water separator element for marine outboard engines. It separates water and traps particulate from the fuel stream before it reaches the injectors or carburettors. Thread size is 1/4 NPT (ZG1/4-19), flow rate is up to 90 GPH, and the housing is corrosion-resistant steel with a marine coating.
Construction
- Filtration rating: 10 micron, capturing 98% of water and particulate contaminants down to 10 microns
- Media: hydrophobic filter media that coalesces and separates water droplets
- Housing: corrosion-resistant steel with marine coating for saltwater use
- Thread: 1/4 NPT (ZG1/4-19) spin-on base
- Flow rate: up to 90 GPH
Cross-reference
- R12T
- 120AT
- 18-7947
Fitment
- Mercury outboards, 2-stroke and 4-stroke, 4HP-300HP
- Yamaha outboards, 2-stroke and 4-stroke, 4HP-350HP
- Suzuki 4-stroke outboards, 4HP-300HP
- Honda 4-stroke outboards, 2HP-250HP
- Any outboard using a standard 1/4 NPT spin-on filter head
Service interval
Replace every 100 operating hours or once per season, whichever comes first. Replace immediately if a water layer appears in the bowl, or if you notice rough idle, hesitation at high RPM or a drop in performance. Ethanol-blended fuel absorbs water faster, so drain the bowl more often and shorten the interval when running E10.
Installation notes
- Switch off the engine and close the fuel supply valve.
- Clean the filter head sealing face and confirm the old gasket came away with the old element.
- Lubricate the new gasket with clean fuel or a light film of oil.
- Spin the element on by hand until the gasket contacts the head, then tighten a further 3/4 turn. Do not use a wrench.
- Open the fuel valve, prime the system and check for leaks around the gasket before starting.
What is in the box
