35-807172 Marine Fuel Water Separator Filter, 10 Micron, Mercury

Marine FiltersCE / ISO 9001

35-807172 is a 10-micron spin-on fuel water separator filter for Mercury, Mariner and MerCruiser gasoline engines. It threads onto the Quicksilver filter base already on the engine on an 11/16-16 thread, flows 90 GPH and replaces Mercury 35-60494-1, 35-802893Q01 and Sierra 18-7944. Filter only — the base and bowl stay in place.

❓ FAQ

It fits gasoline Mercury, Mariner and MerCruiser engines that already run a Quicksilver spin-on filter base, including V6 and V8 sterndrives up to 8.2 L and the outboards that use the same base. It does not fit 1992 MerCruiser 4.3 L Gen II engines with an inline filter, the 1.6 L Vazer or 3.0 L MPI engines. Check that the filter you are removing has an 11/16-16 thread.

No. The box holds one spin-on filter with its sealing ring fitted. The filter base, its ports and any drain stay on the engine and are reused. If the base itself is cracked or the threads are damaged, that is a separate part.

Every 50 to 100 engine hours, or once a season, whichever comes first. Ethanol-blended fuel, months of storage and water found when the base is drained all call for a shorter interval. A spare filter on board turns a stopped motor into a ten-minute job.

10 micron nominal means the media is rated over 90% efficient at trapping particles down to 10 microns. On a Mercury or MerCruiser gasoline engine that covers rust, grit and emulsified water ahead of the carburettor, EFI or direct-injection system, at up to 90 GPH flow.

Check that the old gasket came off with the old filter, that the new sealing ring is coated with clean engine oil, and that the filter is hand-tightened three quarters to one full turn past gasket contact rather than with a wrench. If it still weeps at the base, the base face may be scored; send us the order number and a photo and we will work through it with you.

Description

Product Overview

35-807172 is a 10-micron spin-on fuel water separator filter for Mercury, Mariner and MerCruiser gasoline engines that already run a Quicksilver filter base. It is the cartridge, not the assembly: the base, its ports and the drain stay bolted to the engine, so a service is one spin-off and one spin-on at the price of a filter rather than a housing.

Key Features

  • 10-micron nominal media — Rated over 90% efficiency on particles down to 10 micron, so rust, grit and emulsified water stop ahead of the carburettor, EFI or direct-injection system.
  • 11/16-16 UNF thread — Threads onto the existing Quicksilver base by hand; once the sealing ring touches the base, three quarters to one full turn is the whole torque spec.
  • 90 GPH flow — Sized for carburetted and EFI V6 and V8 sterndrives, where a loaded element shows up first as a lean top end and a motor that will not pull its rated rpm.
  • Coated steel canister — The coated wall separates the steel from ethanol-blended fuel on the inside and from salt air on the outside, without paint or rust flaking into the fuel.
  • Sealing ring fitted — The gasket ships on the filter, so nothing has to be sourced before the swap and the old ring cannot be left stuck on the base by mistake.
  • Element-only service — The base, its ports and the drain are not consumed by a change, so a full season of servicing costs one filter instead of an assembly.
